Our basic literacy program at the Wintonbury Branch Library is growing! If you know of an adult who might be interested in basic reading and writing classes, please refer them to our program. We are working in partnership with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, and we offer small group classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm at the Wintonbury Branch Library from August through June. Our students are those adults who are not quite ready to enter a GED or ABE program. New students can call 806-233-3853 for a registration appointment. We also are currently recruiting volunteer tutors for all levels in our program. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor, please call 860-233-3853 to save your spot in the tutor training sessions that have been scheduled for the end of January 2010. (We will also have tutor training coming up some time this spring.)

The Bob Babb Wednesday Walks welcome adults of all ages and levels of ability. No reservations are required. Meet at the Mohonk Preserve Spring Farm Trailhead. This is a moderate, 4-mile hike. This program is free to Mohonk Preserve members and $10 for non-members (includes a day pass which allows hiking access to Preserve lands for a full day, sunrise to sunset, and can be credited for up to two weeks towards a membership).
